Frequently Asked Questions
What is the itinerary for the weekend?
Example Itinerary
The Lead Summit divides quality time between keynotes, breakout sessions, a swim clinic, and group activities. The 2024 Itinerary will be released in early August.
What does LEAD stand for?
Leadership, Empowerment, and Athletic Development
Who can attend the LEAD Summit?
The Lead Summit is open to teenage girl athletes ages 13-18 (at the time of the Summit).
What can I expect my daughter to learn from LEAD?
Attendees at the Lead Summit will learn from a versatile group of women leaders about topics such as Leadership, Nutrition, Confidence, Mental Health, Perseverance, Overcoming Plateaus, and much more. Upon check-in to the Summit, each girl will receive a LEAD workbook with prompted pages for notes to help follow along with presentation and breakout groups throughout the weekend.
Can attendees request roommates?
Yes. All attendees are roomed together in 3's (unless a 2-per room upgrade is made at checkout) along with other participants. Roommate requests can be submitted in our attendee info forms, which are completed 2-3 months before the Summit. We cannot guarantee all roommate requests will be honored, but each girl will be with other attendees her age unless otherwise requested.
Are accommodations and meals provided?
All meals will be provided at the Summit including: welcome dinner Friday; breakfast, lunch, and dinner on Saturday and Sunday; and breakfast Monday. Snacks will also be provided throughout the weekend. If your daughter should need any additional meals, hotel room service is available and will require a credit card on file. If your daughter has food allergies or sensitivities, we can accommodate those upon request.
How will my daughter get from the airport to the hotel?
Designated members of the Lead team will welcome out of town athletes at the airport with shuttle service and snacks for an additional $79 fee (includes RT transportation to Charlotte Douglas International Airport).
What if my child is an unaccompanied minor?
We recommend familiarizing yourself with each airline’s unaccompanied minor policy. (Southwest does not require that status for 11 & Under, United requires that status for 14 & Under, etc.) We do not provide unaccompanied minor pickup at gates so please either select an airline that does not require that status, accompany your daughter to the Summit, or arrange for a friend or family member to pick up/drop off at the gate.
What percent of attendees fly to the event?
Our summit attracts athletes from all over the world and we have around 50% of attendees fly to our event.
Will my daughter have interaction with the speakers?
Yes. In addition to our keynote talks, smaller breakout sessions will take place throughout the weekend with our speakers and experts. Our speakers will also participate in activities and games along with our attendees.
What is the COVID policy for the LEAD Summit?
Our updated policy as of March 1, 2022: If you have been in contact with someone who has tested positive for COVID in the 48 hours prior to the Summit or you have symptoms of COVID, we ask that you please defer your registration to the following year.
